KEBA Preparatory School is an elite post-grad or senior year program designed to promote well-rounded, individualized improvement and growth so that to accelerate and advance college opportunities.
Only a select 15-20 student athletes will be accepted each season. These elite players will live in a dorm style atmosphere, under the close supervision of our R.A., for the entire 7 month season.
During these 7 months, he will undergo intense, individualized basketball skills training, professional performance, endurance and conditioning, and compete in a 40-60 high-competition game schedule. Every student athlete will develop and improve athlete skills, basketball skills and court IQ. Each player will be given his chance to shine and exhibit his strengths on the court in the presence of college coaches and scouts. This provides plenty of video footage highlighting their particular strengths.
Athletes will play a rigorous schedule against other prep schools such as Brewster, IMG Academy and Hargrave and against community colleges such as UC Clermont, Miami Middletown, etc. This will often require travel. All travel expenses and transportation are included in tuition.
Athletes will learn about overall health and the importance of nutrition and hydration. Proper nutrition for each individual’s specific athlete performance needs will be taught.
Recruitment exposure is also included, as Coach Kennedy will work diligently to place each player in the highest level, best college opportunity that is tailor-suited to fit the needs of the individual.
While attending KEBA, all high school students will be enrolled in Ohdela Online Curriculum while post-grad students will be permitted to enroll in one online college course through University of Cincinnati. These courses will be completed in a classroom setting under the close tutelage of our Academic Advisor. Course progress will be monitored daily, making sure each student is accelerating at an appropriate pace. The advisor will be available for any questions, tutoring, studying, instruction or guidance.
Students will also be taught study skills, which will enable them to learn methods they can use throughout their college years to ease the pressure of academic performance.
KEBA mandates the attendance and successful completion our own courses that will be held in our Education Hall around our travel schedule.
All GPA’s will be high and ACT/SAT scores can be worked on and retaken if necessary while at KEBA.
While attending KEBA, one meal per week is required to be prepared, cooked, eaten and cleaned up as a team. This not only promotes team comradery, but also teaches family unit skills. The R.A. will assign each player to a specific role for that week. For example, one week you may be on the meal prep and the next week cooking, and the following week clean up. Aside from that team meal, KEBA provides three portioned meals per day in our cafeteria. Any additional food, drinks or snacks, if desired, players are independently responsible for. KEBA does have an on-campus convenience store.
Every student athlete will successfully complete our life skills program while at our academy. This program teaches things such as how to build, repair and maintain a positive credit report, financial budgeting, how to balance a checkbook, how to conduct yourself on a job interview, effective resume writing and many other essentials to independent adult living.
KEBA student athletes will plan and host one community outreach project each month while at our academy. This will be decided upon and orchestrated as a team, however, we will provide guidance as needed. Some examples of community outreach monthly projects may be clothing drive, food drive, turkey giveaway, free dinner night, school supply drive, winter coat or toy drive, etc.
We believe Bible Study and worship is an important part of an individual’s spiritual maturity. Student athletes of KEBA will attend a Bible Study held one night per week and a worship service once per week. Additional Bible study and worship services along with pastoral guidance will be available at the student’s option.
As a way to teach our athletes the significance of being a role model and the impact they make on those around them who look up to and admire them, and the responsibility that couples being an athlete, we have implemented a Big Brother program. Through this program, each of our student athletes will be paired with a young, inner city child who is seeking a mentor. The pair will participate in a number of activities together that will effect with both our athlete and the child for many years to come.
Each student athlete will be required to complete a minimum of 10 hours per month voluntary or work services. This can include on the job internship skills training or volunteering at the church or janitorial, or cleaning up litter or even helping with nearby construction projects etc.
BEHIND BOOKS NOT BARS is an early literacy program started by KEBA that focuses on the importance of literacy and education and its effect on our inner city youth’s likelihood to avoid prison in their future. This program advocates literacy by going to local inner city elementary schools and reading to the youth and by collecting and distributing books for free to all of the inner city youth and youth adults, and even into adulthood.
Drop us a line to cheer us on! Know of a need in the community where our team can help? Take a moment to let us know!
